Bronagh's Memorial...
In Memory of Can CH Aislingcudo Bronagh Aine Thally (Bronagh) September 15th, 2006 - November 25th, 2015
Sorcha and Bronagh – you made us laugh, you made us cry, you warmed our hearts each day and brought sunshine into our lives. Bronagh, yesterday we smiled and even chuckled when we came across a picture of you playing the game you loved so much, putting two balls in your mouth. The look of achievement at your accomplishment left no guessing as to what was on your mind as your expression said it all. Sorcha, people who met you said of you, that when they looked at you their hearts melted. Bronagh, you were passionate, exuberant and so full of the joy of living. Sorcha, you behaved as if you were a princess. You were so full of tenderness and love, quietly capturing the affection of all you met. Both of you were very demonstrative in your affection and both of you loved sitting on our knees for a cuddle. Sorcha, Albrecht still says how he misses your hugs.
The sting from the hurt of losing both of you is still very much with us. The reflection of what you were is living on through your posterity. Bronagh, your grandchildren like you are creating similar unexpected surprises for us at the dog shows. Bronagh you had that special sparkle, you so loved the show ring and showing off. A challenge it was though, I must stay to teach you to stand quietly in the ring but in time you learned. Once you learned the ropes there was no stopping you. When in the ring it was not uncommon for judges to laugh and say ‘there is no doubt what is on her mind – that one has attitude!’ and it was in those moments that I would be reminded of your great grandfather Bran for he like you had attitude and loved to be shown. Most recently your boy Brosna owned and loved by Tammy, won the Canadian specialty, bitter sweet because you were not there to share our joy. It was when Brosna came home for a visit that I recognized the uncanny reflection of you. Having him here reminded us of our joy knowing you and the sting of our loss. Bronagh you are not forgotten.
Sorcha, you were soft, sweet and gentle. Unlike Bronagh you needed preparation before returning to the show scene. You were so easy to handle and to train but you needed time and preparation to build up your courage before going into the ring. I distinctly remember one time where I had decided to show you in the US just to see if you would be looked at by the judges. You had had a break from shows and I just wasn’t sure if you would be comfortable returning to the ring. As we walked toward the ring I could feel that you were not relaxed when suddenly you heard Albrecht laughing and chatting with someone at ringside; with that your attitude changed, you wagged your tail and were very happy and jumped up to greet Albrecht. Needless to say, you went into the ring to win best of winners and a five point major. The princess that you were; you were literally followed around the show site by those who wanted to admire you, most of whom were judges. An Irish Red and White judge’s seminar scheduled for this particular show accounted for some of the activity. You finished your American Championship with two best of winners and a best of breed and three five point majors. I guess the judges liked you!
Nessa your grand daughter is very much like you, every once in a while when I look at her I forget for an instant that its her and that you are gone, though always very near and dear to us in precious memory.
The late Canon Doherty once told me that life is short for a dog. At the time I wondered what he had meant by his comment. In time I have grown to understand. As a breeder one sees one generation after another, come and then leave, a heartbreaking cycle. Reflected in what is vibrant and alive in the present are whispers of the past. Without intention and or design our dogs teach about the cycle of life, living, death and dying. They unselfishly give us insights into ourselves. They give us benchmarks in time, moments...“The stuff that dreams are made of” are elucidated in our sweet and tender memories of you.
Sorcha, Bronagh ~ Thanks for the memories. Thank you for taking us along for the ride. I know that in time we will meet again on the other side of the rainbow bridge.
